We're off to a running start in 2020, with the return of our tropical drink in' n' gamblin' night, Castaways Casino Club, on Jan 31: https://www.facebook.com/events/2370519996591551
And of course Valentine's Day is just around the corner, which means Banya (Fri 2.14) & our Parisian cabaret (Sat 2.15).
In the meantime: hooray, Victorian Xmas photos! Here's the Fb album: http://bit.ly/3547xTQ (tag yourselves!), and if paid for an official Santa portrait, that link went out via email yesterday.

Castaways Casino Club
Friday, Jan 31, 9pm-late, sliding scale $10-20 donation, 21+ with ID (25+ suggested)
Gemini and Scorpio Loft, Gowanus, BK
Address with RSVP: http://www.geminiandscorpio.com/events.html
Social media: @gemini_scorpio #geminiandscorpio
Calling all faux millionaires to litter their gold coin at our illicit gambling establishment far offshore on the banks of Gowanus. The casino club will feature blackjack, roulette and the star attraction of the night: Texas hold'em tournament, played at 10pm, 11pm, and 12am for a $50 value prize. For non-tourney games, a member credit system will let you use your winnings for future party entry, drinks, etc (win last time? your credit is still good!).
The original Castaways resort in Vegas was peak-60s polynesian insanity. We'll honor our namesake with tropical drinks & beats, for full tiki party mode alongside the games. Even if you don't gamble, you win.
Dress suggestions: funky party-wear, 1960s Polynesian kitsch, faux fancy, vintage lounge, sparkly cocktail, or other non-sloppy attire appreciated. No elaborate costumes or formalwear required, but you know we love it when you put in effort.
We'll turn the heat way up for some sweaty dancing joy. Wear layers!
Lastly: we still have a few of those ridiculous tiki to-go tumblers from the last Castaways. Take your tropical drinks to go in one of those bad boys for only $10.

ART: Super Funland - Journey Into The The Erotic Carnival
The Museum of Sex explores the sexual origins of the carnival in a combination history and group-art exhibition, SUPER FUNLAND: Journey into the Erotic Carnival. The history gallery takes visitors from the carnival’s ancient bacchanalian origins to its evolution in pre-industrial Europe and the “midway” of the 20th century’s great World’s Fairs, describing how its licentious and permissive subtext has remained intact. The group art show tells this story in thirteen one-of-a-kind commissioned amusements created by an internationally renowned team of artists and designers, bringing themes of sexual carnality, decadence, and joy to a contemporary audience. (thru TBD, Museum of Sex, 233 Fifth Ave, see site for details, $18)
