Hello lovelies,

Last week's Spellbound was a special time. We're working on an edit of the ritual half of the event, and will get it online soon.

We're not currently planning another G&S virtual gathering, but our sexy sister site, House of Scorpio, has plenty coming up in the next few weeks. See http://www.houseofscorpio.com for all upcoming events.

Cheers,

Gemini & Scorpio,

Join New York Adventure Club as they explore the incredible story surrounding absinthe, and how this misunderstood spirit wound up being illegal in most parts of the world until the 21st century. Led by Don Spiro, co-founder of the Green Fairy Society and one of the creators of New York's vintage scene, our virtual experience will include: The history of absinthe, from its creation by a French doctor living in Switzerland, to why it was banned in so many countries under false pretenses; a discussion around why absinthe is a spirit and how it fits into the world of other spirits; a live demonstration of how absinthe is made and traditionally served (hint: no burning sugar cubes!) — follow along by gathering a bottle of absinthe (or high proof whiskey or rum), ice, and water. Q&A to follow. (online, link with purchase, 6pm-8pm, $10)

COMEDY: America’s Next Top Cult
https://www.caveat.nyc/event/americas-next-top-cult-5-8-2020
A monthly live comedy competition that lets the audience decide between three cults dreamed up by New York City’s best comedians. It’s like American Idol meets Wild Wild Country, or if the members of Heaven’s Gate had to present their doctrines to Simon Cowell. A panel of experts (including at least one actual expert on spirituality) will be on hand to poke, prod, and generally hold the aspiring cult leaders’ feet to the proverbial sacrificial fire. At the end of the night the audience votes to decide who will be crowned America’s Next Top Cult. Hosted by Chuck Armstrong & James Hamilton. (Caveat website, 7pm, $sugg don)

PUPPETS: A Chance Shadow. Part II

Presented by Double Image Theater Lab. Part two of A Chance Shadow is based on the poetry, plays and life of Federico Garcia Lorca (1898~ 1936). The creators Spica Wobbe and Margot Fitzsimmons believe that whenever Lorca put pen to paper, he always had duende in mind. Duende in Spanish means having soul, a heightened state of emotion, expression and authenticity that can often make you smile or cry as a bodily reaction to a particular artistic expression. In his work, he brings to light dramatic themes of love, Spanish culture, feminism, freedom and death. (thru 5/30, Double Image Theater Lab Youtube channel, see site for details, FREE)
