Summer is officially DONE. Just look at how many events we've got lined up over the next few weeks! Scroll allll the way down to see full details on all these.

G&S events:

- Sat 9.23 - G&S Loft 1st Birthday and Revelation Rally afterparty. Can you believe the new Loft is already ONE?! Come help us celebrate and stick around late-night to indulge in our favorite kind of shenanigans. No tickets or RSVPs required, just donate a bit at the door to help us offset the staggering expenses of opening & continued renovation. Your birthday and other celebrations welcome; no fees or minimum spend required. Just show up en masse; we got room.

- Sun 9.24 - HoS Sinema Club "Deep Throat" screening with special guests. It's a House of Scorpio event, so yes, membership is required. But we thought this one had crossover appeal, as it's such a classic AND we have both of the director's kids with us in person (they just restored the film for its 50th anniversary last year). Besides, membership is instant and starts at just $5.

- Fri 9.29 - Fierce! dance party - if what House of Scorpio does is intriguing to you in general: this is the only HoS event in September that doesn't require membership. And it's a super fun and chill dance party with some of our fave queer DJs. Always happy beats, not deep dark bass!

- Fri 10.6 - Dark Dance party - it's back! Goth meets kink, with some very special guest DJs.

- Sat 10.14 - JaNk! dance party with Sxip Shirey & his band - doubly rare Sxip Shirey live appearance, as he's otherwise always touring elsewhere in the world...not just the solo sound, but the full dance band. More talent TBA, but this is a wild dance party with some of the most unusual music you'll here anywhere.

- Sat-Sun 10.21-11 - Goldmine pop-up market is back, and we're teaming up with Gowanus Open Studios for a full weekend of artists and vendors. Now booking both -- see below for details.

- Save the date! - Sat 10.28 - Masquerade Macabre, of course. Tickets on sale next week, get ready.

Happening at the Loft (non-G&S events):

- Thur 9.21 - Fusion dance party - an inclusive all-gender all-style partner dance, where you're not required to bring a partner.

- Sat 9.23 - Revelation Rally afterparty. So late night on 9.23 that it's really 9.24, but we don't want to confuse you.

Introducing “Dance at Dusk” - Brooklyn's first monthly Fusion Dance gathering.

Fusion Dance is a magnificent blend of styles coming together to create a fluid improvisational partner dance. Whether you're a seasoned dancer or a newbie looking to learn how to move your feet, this style is inclusive for all because of its diverse nature. Perfect for a date night, a night out with friends or laid back weekday fun that will get you home by midnight.

We kick off each event with an introductory dance lesson focusing on some basics of the dance style, followed by a consent talk. Afterwards, let loose on the open dance floor as our talented rotating cast of DJs send us through the night.

This event is specifically inclusive of all gender, queer and POC backgrounds, so whoever you are, dress to express yourself and dance the night away. Solo folks welcome, as traditionally dance partners will rotate through the night.

A kick-off to a brand new HoS member mixer and another open night to enjoy our lush clubhouse.

The body's largest sex organ is the brain. Sinema Club stimulates yours with films that are explicitly erotic, homo-romantic, or gender-exploring -- and always thought-provoking. A rousing discussion follows; drinking is encouraged throughout, and mingling happens before, during and after: the bar remains open for socializing, while the film plays in the main space. Plus: free popcorn from our vintage cart.

Up first on the big screen: "Deep Throat" (1972, 1hr). One of the first X-rated films to feature a plot, character development and relatively high production values, Deep Throat earned unprecedented mainstream attention, even though the film was banned in some jurisdictions and was subject of obscenity trials. It launched the "porno chic" trend (mainstreaming of adult film & sexuality discussions, a pre-cursor to "sex positivity"), and is considered the forefront of the Golden Age of Porn (1969–1984). Further controversy surrounded the film even in later years, due to the mob connections behind the original financing, investigated by the FBI, and later revelations of star Linda Lovelace that she was in an abusive relationship during filming that led to her participation in the movie (she upheld her role in the film in later years, as its success ultimately allowed her to escape the relationship).

We will be viewing the restored and re-cut 50th Anniversary version (2022), closest to the original 1972 theatrical release. We will also see excerpts from the documentary "Inside Deep Throat" (2005, 1hr 29min) and BBC's "The Real Linda Lovelace" (2002, 1hr).

With special guests Christar & Gerard Damiano Jr in person: kids of the film creator, current leads of Damiano Films, and, together with Robin Leonardi (surviving daughter of another adult industry trailblazer Gloria Leonard), the people responsible for the 2022 restoration and preservation of the film.

Sinema Club is curated and hosted by Phil Guie-Ng (@thatphilguymovies): an inquisitive, ardent longtime film critic who is dying to tell you about movies you haven't heard of yet. As a reviewer at the website Film-Forward, his self-appointed mission was covering documentaries and features about subjects who challenged conventional attitudes about gender, masculinity, and more. When Phil isn't writing about movies, you can find him in Brooklyn taking part in protests on behalf of basic human rights.

*Sinema Club happens on the third Sunday of every month...except this first event!

Special guest from LA: DJ Shiver has been bringing the best of darkwave, goth, industrial, and post-punk sounds since 2015. Having spun at Femme Fest LA, Defcon NYC, and co-founding clubs Dolce Vita and Physical Ruins, she continues to blend both beloved classics and the best of new dark music. She also runs Wire Trap music magazine featuring the best new darkwave and post-punk music and events.

Special guest DJ Joe Hart: DJ and event producer since 2014, Joe is the producer of SVMMON and co-producer of Procession dark dance club nights. Their focus spans all dark alternative with an emphasis on modern darkwave, EBM, industrial, post-punk, and goth. Joe has previously been a guest DJ at many venues and events, including Torture Garden NY, Dances of Vice, Defcon, Stimulate, Synthicide, Red Party, and more.

Dress code: goth, romantic, vampire, dark Lolita, neo-Victorian, steampunk, ninja warrior, fetish, Edward Scissorhands, at minimum all black / no streetwear.

We're firing up the mutant harmonicas, sticking a mic down the mouth of a sousaphone and inviting you to a surreal live-music-driven dance party. Dirty electronics and live musicians, regurgitating old genres like early ska, hip-hop, techno and house, and playing it raw, glitchy and original. The music is a raw sexy explosion of joy.

Sxip Shirey and his JaNk! Band have been rocking circus audiences in Sydney, Berlin, London and Bogotta and even played Madonna's birthday party. The first JaNk! party was a G&S party, and we are excited to return!
