Hello lovelies,

It's been a sad rainy week, but we are ready to bust into Halloween party season with six(!) events over the next 30 days, including our rescheduled G&S Loft 1st birthday party. A year into this process, we are scraping the bottom of our existing funds...best way to help us is to buy tickets, make donations, sign up for monthly membership over at House of Scorpio, and of course help us spread the word for others to do the same.

- Fri 9.29 - Fierce! dance party - curious about House of Scorpio, our sex-pos qu33r + allies community? This is the rare event that lets you take a peek without a membership. And it's a super chill dance party with some of our fave qu33r DJs, throwing down happy, eclectic beats.

- Fri 10.6 - Dark Dance party - it's back! Goth meets kink, with some very special guest DJs.

- Sat 10.14 - JaNk! dance party with Sxip Shirey & his band - doubly rare Sxip Shirey live appearance, as he's otherwise always touring elsewhere in the world -- and not just the solo sound, but the full dance band. A wild dance party with some of the most unusual music you'll hear anywhere.

- Fri 10.20 - G&S Loft 1st Birthday...rescheduled from a very rainy weekend. Now with a brass band, plus a neighborhood parade beforehand. As before, no tickets or RSVPs required (tho FB RSVPs are so useful!), just donate what you can at the door to help us offset the staggering expenses of opening & continued renovation. Your birthday and other celebrations welcome; no fees or minimum spend required. Just show up en masse; we got room.

- Sat-Sun 10.21-11 - Goldmine pop-up market is back, and we're teaming up with Gowanus Open Studios for a full weekend of artists and vendors. Now booking both -- see below for details.

- Save the date! - Sat 10.28 - Masquerade Macabre, of course. Expect the usual brass bands + DJs + wild stage acts nonsense. //Trying something new! We've been getting inquiries about new people checking out HoS events just after the monthly mixer has passed. We're going to test Fierce! as a possible second monthly mixer where friends and future members are both invited.//

Calling all poly, swinger, kink, LGBTQIA+ and other "alternative" dating/sex/gender-aligned humans and their allies for a social & dance blowout in our new nightlife lair. We got lights & smoke & lasers, booming bass, spinning disco ball, swirling visuals, lots of dance floor, lots of couches, killer AC.

Queer DJs lay down an eclectic mix of happy hits & house beats. The night features our resident, underground fave DJ Illexxandra, and special guest Robinette Jones.

Dress code: your queerest self! Sparkly unicorns, leather daddies, LED aliens, fancy fairies, punk dykes, glitter glamour queens, sequin divas, kinky party monsters, dandy butches, neon rainbow bears. This party is inclusive of all genders & expressions -- except casual wear. Dress to dance!

HoS rules: Dress code required; HoS membership, PAL or prior approval not required; Code of Conduct always applies; no photos except in the designated front area.

COVID safety: HoS requires proof of vaccination on file; masks encouraged; two hospital grade UV air purifiers will cycle the air.

Calling all goths, vampires & kinksters for a classic goth dance party! We will turn the lights down low, blast goth & industrial to dance to, and project dark visuals. Light kink play welcome, on our many soft surfaces or our St Andrew's Cross. We embrace all genders and sexualities and levels of darkness.

Special guest from LA: DJ Shiver has been bringing the best of darkwave, goth, industrial, and post-punk sounds since 2015. Having spun at Femme Fest LA, Defcon NYC, and co-founding clubs Dolce Vita and Physical Ruins, she continues to blend both beloved classics and the best of new dark music. She also runs Wire Trap music magazine featuring the best new darkwave and post-punk music and events.

Special guest DJ Joe Hart: DJ and event producer since 2014, Joe is the producer of SVMMON and co-producer of Procession dark dance club nights. Their focus spans all dark alternative with an emphasis on modern darkwave, EBM, industrial, post-punk, and goth. Joe has previously been a guest DJ at many venues and events, including Torture Garden NY, Dances of Vice, Defcon, Stimulate, Synthicide, Red Party, and more.

Dress code: goth, romantic, vampire, dark Lolita, neo-Victorian, steampunk, ninja warrior, fetish, Edward Scissorhands, at minimum all black / no streetwear.

We're firing up the mutant harmonicas, sticking a mic down the mouth of a sousaphone and inviting you to a surreal live-music-driven dance party. Dirty electronics and live musicians, regurgitating old genres like early ska, hip-hop, techno and house, and playing it raw, glitchy and original. The music is a raw sexy explosion of joy.

Sxip Shirey and his JaNk! Band have been rocking circus audiences in Sydney, Berlin, London and Bogotta and even played Madonna's birthday party. The first JaNk! party was a G&S party, and they are excited to return, with special guests in tow.

Red marbles rolling in electroacoustic glass bowls, industrial flutes, bass siren whistles, regurgitated music box, mutant harmonica, miniature hand bell choir... A confusion of novelty, experimental and electronics, wild and entertaining. Our vibe: maximalist 1960s, Victorian, goth, circus, burlesque, 1920s, sparkly, sexy, kinky, OTT. Registration gets you included on the GOS map and starts at just $10. Artists can *also* get vending space, if they sell their art on wearables, prints, housewares, gifts, etc -- follow vendor instructions below.

Vendors: we want creative, unique and unusual. Vintage, designer resale, thrift and handmade wearables are preferred, but housewares and gifts are also welcome. Halloween, spooky & kinky vibes are great; we expect folks to be looking for costumes. Fees are $75 per day / $150 for weekend, 12-6 each day (10% discount if also registering with GOS).
