It's Priiiiiiide month, and, for our sx-pos queer+ poly kinky sister community House of Scorpio, it's Pride week, with big events both Friday and Saturday. Tix are available for all the events below, and the only one that requires HoS membership is the all-gender makeout party on Friday -- but not to worry, membership is instant and starts at literally $5.

Here are our June plans:

- This Fri 6.13 - Lip Service: pansexual makeout party ($0-25, HoS members only) - Low stakes, lots of fun. And yes, you can just stick to kissing your partner...but you'll probably have more fun if you step out of your comfort zone. Spin that bottle or stack that Jenga, and see what happens. All genders and orientations welcomed and celebrated!

- This Sat 6.14 day - Brooklyn Pride! A huge festival stretching along 5th Avenue in Park Slope, just around the corner from the Loft. You'll find us right at the start, at Union St. We're bringing a photo booth backdrop, so come selfie in your rainbow best. We're also bringing some fabulous party & festival wear, so if you don't know what to wear, hit us up first. Please let us know if you may want to volunteer to hang with us a bit (we'll have drinks & snacks for everyone who does this). It's also a great time to chat to us about events you may want to see us host, or your own events you may want to see happen here.

- This Sat 6.14 eve - Open house & Renegade Pride (by donation, open to all) - starting at 6pm, we'll keep the Loft open to our big rainbow family. Have a drink, curl up on a comfy couch, bring friends and games, order food. Groups welcome; no special reservations needed, but a heads up would be good for planning. As the sun sets, we'll turn up the dance tunes for our annual Renegade Pride queer dance party. No fees, but we could really use your donations -- you can use the ticketing page to donate $5-35 in advance, and we'll collect more at the door.

- Next Sat 6.21 - Sea Creature Stomp ($15-45, open to tall) - the 9th annual Mermaid Parade brass band afterparty! We're working on bands, but we already know that the killer all-femme drum core Batala is back with us! Please reserve in advance, if you can, as it helps us plan staff and supplies. All ticket income goes directly to bands.

- Next Sun 6.22 - Sinema Club: exploring gender & sexuality on screen ($0-10, open to non-members) - for Pride month, we'll be watching one of the first truly joyful gay movies to hit the mainstream: The Birdcage (1996). It's not without cracks that have shown with time, but it has held up remarkably well, in no small part due to the sparkling performances by the genius combo of Robin Williams and Nathan Lane.

- Fri 6.27 - Dark DecaDance ($0-20, open to non-members) - a queer-forward goth dance & kink party...because sometimes we prefer black to rainbow. All shades welcome, as always, but we're officially making it a pastel / rainbow goth theme for Pride.

It's also a way for us to vet you in person for those parties; talk to us at the event.

Dress to be kissed: sexy and fun. Fetish attire, formalwear, lingerie, corsets, tutus and costumes always welcome...and we consider those unisex options (the more colorful and outrageous, the better). No casual or business; door person WILL turn you away -- see Code of Conduct page on our site for more details on the dress code.

Brass bands, dance beats, pulsating dance floor, lots of cozy seating, photo booth wall for all those mer-selfies. Classic summertime Brooklyn loft party...if it happened under the sea. After the bands, dancing to tropical bass beats until our mermaid tails fall off. Featuring:

Hungry March Band - a brass-fueled storm of untamed joy and revelry. Sound and celebration collide as their horns howl and drums thunder, weaving jazz, punk, and global influences into a wild, anarchic dance.

Batala NY - Gotham's premiere all-women Afro-Brazilian percussion and dance ensemble, presenting a fearless, diverse and resilient community of drummers.

Stoop Kidz - a brass supergroup who banded together during the early pandemic to bring music to the streets of Brooklyn. Five years later, they’re still serving dance parties with original bangers and brass arrangements of Disco, Synth-Pop and RnB hits.

Dress code: all sea creature everything.

Closest subway from parade: express B/D/N/Q to Atlantic-Pacific (or switch to R for local Union stop). Lots of great restaurants in the area to grab a meal before the party.

The body's largest sex organ is the brain. Sinema Club stimulates yours with films that are explicitly erotic, homo-romantic, or gender-exploring -- and always thought-provoking. A rousing discussion follows; drinking is encouraged throughout, and mingling happens before, during and after: the bar lounge remains open for socializing, while the film plays in the main space. Plus: free popcorn from our vintage cart. Order in from the many restaurants around, and make it dinner and a movie.

This month's feature: The Birdcage (1996).

The all-too-familiar plot of in-laws meeting for the first time gets an LGBTQ twist when the father of the groom (Robin Williams!) runs a Miami drag club, while the father of the bride is a conservative politician. In order to make their get-together run as smoothly as possible, the groom’s dad must pretend to be straight and otherwise lie about every aspect of his happy life, especially his marriage to another man (Nathan Lane!). The film was a box office hit and marked a watershed moment for how LGBTQ protagonists were portrayed onscreen. But it’s also hilarious, fast-paced fun that celebrates being gay while skewering American conservatism.

Amuse bouche: Lesbophilia (2024). A hilarious LGBTQ black comedy short centered on sex and desire, and what you can and can’t do at a funeral. We’ll be joined afterwards for a talkback with director Michelle West and screenwriter Tennessee Martin.

Sinema Club is curated and hosted by Phil Guie-Ng (@thatphilguymovies): an inquisitive, ardent longtime film critic who is dying to tell you about movies you haven't heard of yet. As a reviewer at the website Film-Forward, his self-appointed mission was covering documentaries and features about subjects who challenged conventional attitudes about gender, masculinity, and more. When Phil isn't writing about movies, you can find him in Brooklyn taking part in protests on behalf of basic human rights.

DDD is a queer-forward kink-friendly goth dance celebration, inviting all participants to let go, dance and play in our luscious private loft. We embrace all genders and sexualities and levels of darkness.
 
On decks: resident DJ Shiver has been bringing the best of darkwave, goth, industrial, and post-punk sounds since 2015. Having spun at Femme Fest LA, Defcon NYC, and co-founding clubs Dolce Vita and Physical Ruins, she continues to blend both beloved classics and the best of new dark music. She also runs Wire Trap music magazine featuring the best new darkwave and post-punk music and events.

Guest DJ: Chloe D'Cay. She is the producer of Thrills & Chills: Dark Waves & Dangerous Babes, a monthly goth cabaret, and Sunday Mourning Goth Brunch, a daytime dark dance party. She is also the owner of The Unconvention, a recurring multi-day celebration of mutual weirdness and alternative subculture.

Live on stage: special drag performance by Reverb Cowgirl.

Light kink play welcome, but please note there is no dedicated dungeon setup or dedicated monitors. Consent and polite party behavior strictly enforced.

Dress code: goth, fetish, romantic, vampire, dark Lolita, neo-Victorian, steampunk, ninja warrior. Effort required / no casual wear (ie no black t-shirt/jeans/sneakers).
