A rousing discussion follows; drinking is encouraged throughout, and mingling happens before, during and after: the bar lounge remains open for socializing, while the film plays in the main space. This month's feature: Love Lies Bleeding (2024)

A romantic thriller set in a rural New Mexican town in 1989. Reclusive gym manager Lou (Kristen Stewart) falls hard for Jackie (Katy O'Brian), an ambitious bodybuilder headed to Vegas in pursuit of her dream. But their love ignites violence, pulling them deep into the web of Lou's criminal family. It has a 7.8 Rotten Tomatoes rating, with 94% positive critics reviews out of 263: "Lust and violence collide to powerfully pulpy effect in Love Lies Bleeding, a well-acted addition to writer-director Rose Glass' growing body of exceptional work." The movie was named one of the Top Ten Independent Films of 2024 by the National Board of Review.

Special guests: we're confirming the intimacy coordinators for the film for a Zoom talk-back!

Sinema Club is curated and hosted by Phil Guie-Ng (@thatphilguymovies): an inquisitive, ardent longtime film critic who is dying to tell you about movies you haven't heard of yet. As a reviewer at the website Film-Forward, his self-appointed mission was covering documentaries and features about subjects who challenged conventional attitudes about gender, masculinity, and more. When Phil isn't writing about movies, you can find him in Brooklyn taking part in protests on behalf of basic human rights.

The Season of Sonic Mayhem is again upon us! Mechasonic Sessions returns with new creations of experimental mecha-musical sensory hyperstimulation.

Featured: Brass combustion, high-voltage, pneumatics, instrument abuse, showers of sparks, circuit modulation, flaming hell-blasts, ethereal vocals in new languages, doomsex cabaret, and for some reason this time, a preponderance of chickens...

First held in 2019 to an audience of under 40 people, Mechasonic Sessions was created by musicians and artists to allow fellow creators (Grammy Award winners and MET Opera singers among them) to try things they couldn't in any other environment. It has since developed into a collaborative endeavor involving scores of musicians, builders, and volunteers, and has taken to the road to perform and curate a stage at a 20,000-person festival.

There will be FIRE.

On the dance floor & stage - FemFlirt: fem & non-binary mixer & makeout party. In the lounge - MeetMarket: pansexual flirting party. In the bar - a neutral zone for everyone to take a break from flirting. Save it for your chosen half of the room (or if you're lucky enough, both halves).

It's been a common refrain that it's harder for women/GNC/NB folks to flirt with each other, as they frequently can't tell how much flirting may be ok, who's straight and who's open, and whether a connection they may be feeling is a friendly one or one with potential chemistry to explore. And, when cis & hetero presenting, they are sometimes made to feel too straight for gay spaces, and invisible or too queer in mixed environments.

This event is a small step towards diminishing pan, queer and gay femme/NB invisibility, enabling and encouraging those folks to connect romantically and physically to others like them, wherever they fall on the gender presentation spectrum.

8-9pm: bonus Flirting for Femmes class with Vonka, which includes practical exercises -- a great way to meet everyone in the room you may want to flirt with later. 9-10pm: social games and icebreakers. As the night progresses, we go from mixer to makeouts, with Spin The Bottle and other sexy games.

Who can attend: self-identifying women and GNC/NB humans who want to connect with other women and GNC/NB humans.

For everyone: MeetMarket

We put our "no cruising" rule on hold and encourage all guests to shamelessly hit on each other. An all-gender, all-orientation flirting party to help you find a partner (or two) to cozy up with in the colder months. Our PAL rule is on hold as well: come alone or bring a stranger. Wondering where to meet up with your new app match? Bring them here. Invite all your single friends. Tell your mom.

Social games 9-10pm to help you connect with other guests.
