TBH, it just hasn't felt right. The thing that has: building community. House of Scorpio has been developing in parallel to G&S for the last 10+ years, and this is where our heart is more and more. We need to open our arms to our vulnerable friends...especially if we ourselves are also vulnerable. This is the intersectional home for everyone left of gender/orientation/relationship center. Come find your people.

- Fri 9.12 - House of Scorpio event: Lip Service pansexual makeout party ($0-25, HoS members only) - kiss your partner, kiss your friends, kiss adventurous strangers of all genders...it's THAT famous makeout party. Choose your adventure, even if that means just hanging back and enjoying the atmosphere.

- Sun 9.14 - House of Scorpio event: Sinema Club, exploring gender & sexuality on screen ($0-10, open to non-members) - we're back after a summer break with a controversial choice: David Cronenberg's "Crash" (1996) -- a scandalously well-known erotic thriller about symphorophiliacs...people who are aroused by car crashes. Very rare to find this one anywhere, much less on the big screen.

- Fri 9.19 - House of Scorpio event: Saints & Sinners ($0-50, HoS members only) - The one and only pop-up skrip clerb fit for the HoS fam. We get asked all the time how people can join HoS if they are shy, don't have like-minded friends, lack PALs for play parties, have no idea how this whole thing works, don't feel like jumping into sexy activity but want to connect to open-minded humans, etc. This party is the answer!

Calling all LGBTQIA+, poly, kink, swinger and other "alternative" dating/sex/gender-aligned humans and their allies. We're creating a protected and judgment-free space for connections, conversations, community, games and interactivity. This is the key HoS event open to non-members. Come meet us before you join!

For those of you new to it all: direct introductions to HoS members new and old; facilitated discussions on poly, kink and swinger lifestyles; icebreaker games to welcome you to our club.

For our regulars: a way to ease new friends into our scene; a chance to meet all the new faces you may want to kiss later; a visit with the community even if your PAL is not around.

For everyone: tabletop and social games, both risqué and plain fun; a charming host to make the introductions and explain all things HoS and sex-positive, and a cozy setting for conversations and future kisses. Our main icebreaker game, HoS Guest Bingo, runs from 7:30pm until we have a winner: get to know everyone in the room, and win a drink if you complete your bingo card.

The body's largest sex organ is the brain. Sinema Club stimulates yours with films that are explicitly erotic, homo-romantic, or gender-exploring -- and always thought-provoking. This month's feature: Crash (1996)

David Cronenberg's "Crash" is about the strange lure of the auto collision, provoking as it does the human fascination with death and the tendency to eroticize danger. Most motorists will slow down to stare at the scene of a collision; they may feel their pulses quickening and become aware of the fragility of their own bodies. The characters of "Crash" carry this awareness a step further, cherishing and nurturing it. For them, a car collision is a sexual turn-on, and a jolting life force they come to crave.

The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, where it received the Special Jury Prize (with then-jury president Francis Ford Coppola noting that certain jury members "did abstain very passionately"). It continued to receive various accolades, including six Genie Awards. The film's initial release was met with intense controversy and opened to highly divergent reactions from critics; some praised the film for its daring premise and originality, others aimed criticism for having such a strange premise filled with graphic violence. It has since developed a cult following and is now considered to be one of Cronenberg's best films.

Special talk-back guest: joining us via Zoom after the film is Lisa Laman, a writer, podcast co-host, and film critic who has written a number of interesting pieces on the work of David Cronenberg -- especially from the trans perspective.

Sinema Club is curated and hosted by Phil Guie-Ng (@thatphilguymovies): an inquisitive, ardent longtime film critic who is dying to tell you about movies you haven't heard of yet. As a reviewer at the website Film-Forward, his self-appointed mission was covering documentaries and features about subjects who challenged conventional attitudes about gender, masculinity, and more. When Phil isn't writing about movies, you can find him in Brooklyn taking part in protests on behalf of basic human rights.

She also runs Wire Trap music magazine featuring the best new darkwave and post-punk music and events.

Guest DJ: DJ Kamikaze Tomato has delivered dark, driving sets since 2021, blending goth, darkwave, and industrial with precision and edge. As curator of Sanctified - Long Island’s only monthly dark dance night - they reignite the underground with a seamless mix of beloved classics and cutting-edge dark sounds.

Light kink play welcome, but please note there is no dedicated dungeon setup or dedicated monitors. Consent and polite party behavior strictly enforced.

Dress code: goth, fetish, romantic, vampire, dark Lolita, neo-Victorian, steampunk, ninja warrior. Effort required / no casual wear. Got nothing to wear? We have multiple racks of funky clothes you can shop at the party, XS-XL+!
