Spooky season comes into full swing this weekend...look at everything that's happening at the Loft, between us, our sister company House of Scorpio, and guest producers. And if you're a House of Scorpio member, you get discounts to nearly all events!

Not a HoS member yet? You can sign up instantly -- base membership starts at just $5, though the discounts start at the $15 level. Every dollar of your memberships goes towards keeping the Loft alive, and every dollar counts. We'll include the full HoS schedule below so you can see just how active the community is, and the fun you could have if you're a member.

As we said in the last email: big events like we used to do are becoming less sustainable all the time, and this is likely our last Halloween. But we love what HoS is, and the community it keeps safe, and we're working hard on keeping that light on. We're also focusing more on keeping the venue going with private events.

- This Fri 10.24 - HoS Halloween - Persephone ($0-50, members only) - Kinky cabaret meets dungeon play party, against our Dark Decadance goth dance backdrop. Dark music, dark vibes, kinky playtime (and a bit more, if you're inside the dungeon area). See and experience things you can't anywhere else. BYO toys and playmates, or tip our demigod dommes to show you the way. Approval NOT required for ticket purchase, and you only need PALs (or dommes) in play areas, though you do need to be a member. For best guest experience, we're limiting sales to 50 tickets only -- you will have room to watch, to dance and to explore.

- This Sat 10.25 - G&S Halloween - Masquerade Macabre ($25-60, open to all) - live bands, live acts, lots of dancing, lots of fun. If you book through the HoS member system, you get all the usual discounts for your levels! Plus, guest tickets are only $30, even if that tier sells out on the G&S ticketing page.

- Next Sat/Sun 10.31-1.1 - Rocky Horror Picture Show screening, shadow cast performance & afterparty!

- Thur(!) 11.6 - Taste The Rainbow: community social ($0-10, open to non-members) - The all-are-welcome monthly gathering to introduce you all to each other, with table and icebreaker games to make the intros easier. Do you know that even at the $5 monthly membership level, you can attend this event FREE? Pretty handy, considering what's going on the following night...

- Fri 11.7 - Saints & Sinners ($0-50, members only) - The one and only pop-up skrip clerb fit for the HoS fam, with a lineup that will bring you to your knees. That's...as much as we can say, other than: YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS. Two of our HOLY-CRAP-DID-I-JUST-SEE-THAT faves are back for this one: Alaska the Lost Boy and Sideshow Scandal. This is Alaska's only NYC gig in many months!

- Sat 11.8 - Look If You Dare ($0-35, open to non-members) - we're taking our in-the-round skrip clerb setup and inviting the sassy producers of Look If You Dare to return to our special clubhouse with more art, burlesque and naughty fun. Get in the splash zone! Regular tix available to all on the official ticket page; member discounts available in our system with HoS log-in.

- Fri 11.14 - Lip Service: pansexual makeout party ($0-25, members only) - A party where making out in dark corners is not just tolerated, but encouraged. Even if you're only playing within your closed circle, doing that without feeling like you're breaking the social contract feels pretty great. For you more adventurous folk, this is where the games get physical, too (Sexy Jenga! Spin the Bottle!). It's our signature event, and it's a ton of fun without a lot of pressure.

- Sun 11.16 - Sinema Club: exploring gender & sexuality on screen ($0-10, open to non-members) - having indulged in car crashes and vampires, we're going classy for November: Maurice, an actual Merchant-Ivory film! A gay love story released at the peak of the AIDS crisis in 1987, the movie was a much more defiant move than it might seem from its reserved English ways. It's a perfect date night, especially if you also order in dinner when you get there -- and we've got the popcorn in our vintage carnival cart.

We get asked all the time how people can join HoS if they are shy, don't have like-minded friends, lack PALs for play parties, have no idea how this whole thing works, don't feel like jumping into sexy activity but want to connect to open-minded humans, etc. This party is the answer!

Calling all LGBTQIA+, poly, kink, swinger and other "alternative" dating/sex/gender-aligned humans and their allies. We're creating a protected and judgment-free space for connections, conversations, community, games and interactivity. This is the key HoS event open to non-members. Come meet us before you join!

For those of you new to it all: direct introductions to HoS members new and old; facilitated discussions on poly, kink and swinger lifestyles; icebreaker games to welcome you to our club.

For our regulars: a way to ease new friends into our scene; a chance to meet all the new faces you may want to kiss later; a visit with the community even if your PAL is not around.

The body's largest sex organ is the brain. Sinema Club stimulates yours with films that are explicitly erotic, homo-romantic, or gender-exploring -- and always thought-provoking. A rousing discussion follows; drinking is encouraged throughout, and mingling happens before, in breaks and after. Plus: free popcorn from our vintage cart. This month's feature: Maurice (1987)

"Maurice" is a tale of gay love in the restrictive and repressed culture of Edwardian England, following its main character, Maurice Hall, through university, a tumultuous relationship, struggling to fit into society, and ultimately being united with his life partner. A Merchant Ivory blue-chip classic, the film stars Hugh Grant, James Wilby and Rupert Graves in lead roles, and Ben Kingsley, Denholm Elliott, Simon Callow and Billie Whitelaw as supporting cast.

Maurice has won abundant praise both for the quality of the film and the audacity with which it depicted a gay love story at the height of the 1980s AIDS crisis. According to the Los Angeles Times, the fact that: "the lush, dignified 'Maurice,' with its share of man-on-man smooches, full-frontal male nudity, gay lovemaking and unabashed declarations of same-sex desire, as well as a main character who was ultimately affirmative and unwavering about his homosexuality (during a time when it was a criminal offense, no less), landed a unique place in then-contemporary gay culture. That a movie which celebrated romance between men – with a rare happy ending – was released at the height of the AIDS epidemic only added to the acclaimed picture's provocative profile."

Sinema Club is curated and hosted by Phil Guie-Ng (@thatphilguymovies): an inquisitive, ardent longtime film critic who is dying to tell you about movies you haven't heard of yet. As a reviewer at the website Film-Forward, his self-appointed mission was covering documentaries and features about subjects who challenged conventional attitudes about gender, masculinity, and more. When Phil isn't writing about movies, you can find him in Brooklyn taking part in protests on behalf of basic human rights.
