Hello lovelies,

So much to announce...

  • It's a huge spring-cleaning & Mother's Day gifts Goldmine on Sunday: fifteen vendors with a pretty wild range of options. In case you missed the announcement on Instagram/Facebook: you know Miss Scorpio loves her crazy headpieces...well, her favorite maker has sent four stunning ones exclusively for sale at Goldmine. Be here early to snag them -- and other most choice finds. Want to see them? Go to http://instagram.com/gemini_scorpio

  • Fri 4/21, is the return of our craft cocktail lounge, The Cocktail Experiment. We've been experimenting with recipes, and while we're not ready to announce, we can tell you they'll be pretty delicious: think intense ginger, smoky and complex herbal flavors, among others.

  • May the Fourth is coming! It's our biggest celebration yet, with a Star Wars movie screening, Browncoats the Musical, and of course our Cantina at the End of the Universe.

  • Lastly, our warm-weather Victorian garden tea series at the Mount Vernon Museum returns on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 14. We haven't posted info officially, but tickets have been put on sale, and as the Museum just shared the link, we wouldn't want you to be the second to know.

All event invites & tickets links are just below. Scroll away!

A speakeasy experiment in our magical loft. One kickass bartender, a fully stocked bar, and YOU bringing a liquid challenge: a bottle of something unusual for our pro to turn into a one-of-a-kind cocktail. If your bottle is used in creation of a cocktail, you (and up to three friends) get a complimentary tasting. No two cocktails will be the same, and all will be delicious.

Or, skip the challenge & just enjoy inventive craft cocktails in a better-than-bar atmosphere: a sexy low-lit loft, lots of couches, sprawling roof, chill music, serious skills behind the bar, no attitude.

Featured ingredients & cocktails TBA!

About our bartender: Rebecca Leigh Silverman possesses a unique skillset as both a modern craft bartender and historic culinary expert specializing in period hearthside cooking and libations. When not cooking in the past, she's a Brooklyn-based bartender, trying odd old recipes out on her modern day customers and talking about the perfect sazerac. She is on faculty at The Farm Cooking School, teaching hyper-seasonal cocktail making.

MayTheFourth Star Wars Day celebration

Gemini & Scorpio Loft in Gowanus, BK - see site for address Details & address: http://www.geminiandscorpio.com/events.html Social media: @gemini_scorpio #GScantina #geminiandscorpio

-->Thur, May 4, 7pm-late, $10 sugg donation Star Wars Movie Marathon - movies TBC FB: https://www.facebook.com/events/1751869095125114

We're doing it again! Open to suggestion on which Star Wars are the way to go, but currently leaning towards back to back Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens & Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. We didn't get to do the drunken rooftop light saber battle last year...should we try again? All ages, as long as those under drinking age come with parents.

-->Sat, May 6, 8-10pm Tea Time for Mad Girls Productions presents Browncoats: The Musical

$10 / $20 with tickets to Cantina party Tix: http://bpt.me/376013 FB: https://www.facebook.com/events/1809156699337318

Eight months after the events of Miranda, the Crew of the Serenity is staring into the void of a changing 'verse, wondering how to go forward, and knowing there's no going back. Whispers of rebellion rising up are tempting Mal to throw himself recklessly back into the thick of things, and with the impending birth of Zoe's baby, she is forced to make the impossible choice between her loyalty to Serenity and protecting the last thing she has of Wash. And that's provided they can keep the ship running long enough to reach the next planet!

All proceeds benefit ACLU. Costumes encouraged, but not required -- unless you're staying for the Cantina party.

-->Sat, May 6, 10pm-late Cantina at the End of the Universe

$15 until 4.30 / $20 after and at door, if avail / $10 after 1am FB: https://www.facebook.com/events/204825423352814 Tix: http://bpt.me/376013 Presale recommended: smaller capacity than usual due to giant alien monster puppets

Jedis, Trekkers, Browncoats, Time Lords and Hitchhikers from all corners of the cosmos, follow us to a cantina at the end of the universe to celebrate Star Wars Day, May the Fourth. There will be aesthetically pleasing air pressure waves coming at your eardrums, mad scientist concoctions (no synthahol, we promise), and an eclectic crowd of humanoids, demonoids, arachnoids, cephalopoids, androids, and surprisingly many other alienoids. We won't let any wookies tear your arm off, but don't mention Miranda, or the seemingly harmless 90-pound brunette wandering around barefoot may suddenly opt for some thrilling heroics, and then you're on your own. Dress uniforms encouraged, watch out for the replicants, and don't forget your towel. You can materialize your Tardis right on the dance floor, but we recommend buying your multipass in advance, in case a clone invasion results in massive overcrowding and subsequent destruction of the entire multiverse.

It's an intergalactic creature dance party, with our special guests: alien monster puppet robot-wrestling ensemble BIG NAZO, returning just for this annual event from recent ComiCon and international festival gigs. DJ Illexandra & DJ Stylus provide epically nerdy beats all night, and classic sci-fi visuals play throughout.

Costume required, as always. Think Star Wars, Star Trek, HGTTG, Firefly, Doctor Who, Blade Runner, Martians, robots, aliens, androids, giant spider creatures with tentacle faces, orange-haired hot-pants-wearing supreme beings, intergalactic bounty hunters, true-blue-blooded opera singers, shiny creatures of energy in corporeal form, the time-traveling anti-you.

PERFORMANCE: Adrienne Truscott: THIS http://newyorklivearts.org/event/truscott-this Adrienne Truscott made THIS. THIS is a solo performance which may not always be a solo, created specifically for Live Arts stage. THIS is a small or large or medium act of artistic survivalism and an ever-evolving work that writes, in real time, the libretto of the performance the artist is attempting to do which changes with each performance to reflect the new context brought by the performance at hand. FILM: Body Politics: Your Vice is a Locked Room and Only I Have the Key http://www.nitehawkcinema.com/series/nitehawk-naughties Nitehawk Naughties 2017 program, Body Politics, presents a corporeal selection of Italian films (1964-1980) that position sexuality in terms of politics. Very loosely based on Edgar Allen Poe’s The Black Cat, the film features a burned out writer named Oliviero who lives in his Venice estate with delusions of his dead mother in his imagination. He is also a degenerate who sleeps with his maid and his ex-student, hosts orgies, and humiliates his wife Irina in front of strangers. When a number of women are murdered in grisly fashion, Oliviero becomes a prime suspect. In classic giallo style, it’s a mystery to find out who is killing the women but this time, the surviving women take things into their own hands. ART: Visionaire presents “Toiletpaper's Paradise” http://www.visionaireworld.com/blog/visionaire-presents-toiletpapers-paradis Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari’s ‘more is more’ installation is an interactive immersion into Toiletpaper magazine’s wild aesthetic. Through psychedelic reimagined domestic settings, the exhibition reveals vibrant vignettes featuring the magazine’s art and product collaborations all stacked, layered, and pastiched. Attendees are invited to touch, play, move, sit, recline, and position themselves in the physical manifestation of the minds of the artists. Some areas, best described as Mad Men on acid, includes a mock headstone that reads ‘The End’. Lounge and bedroom are subverted living areas full of absurd possibilities and combinations. (thru 4/9, Mon–Fri 8am–7pm Sat–Sun 10am–5pm, Cadillac House, 330 Hudson St, FREE)

ART: Aaron Taylor Kuffner’s Suara Sinar (The Sound Of Light) http://www.thechimneynyc.com/aaron-taylor-kuffner For his second solo-exhibition at The Chimney, American artist Aaron Taylor Kuffner will present Suara Sinar (The Sound of Light), a site-specific installation, consisting of totems of mechanical gongs synchronized with a constellation of lights on the ceiling. Immersed in a choreography of light and sound, viewers are invited to lay on a circular-foam platform in the center of The Chimney. The exhibition is part of Kuffner's ongoing series of Sonic Kinetic Sculptures called Gamelatrons that re-contextualizes Indonesian Gamelan. The artist's work exposes viewers to the rich and profound nature of musical resonance and its effect on the body and psyche. Suara Sinar becomes a temporary sanctuary, a liminal space, a safe haven where sound and light fuse into a unifying language. (thru 4/9, Sun 2pm-6pm, The Chimney, 200 Morgan Ave, BK, FREE)
